I have the right to be angry
don't you think I do
carrying the weight of the world
and then some too
from raising my four children
all by myself
to stretching my few pennies
to keep something on the shelf
from giving my love to undeserving men
to listening to the same old lies
again and again
from trying to make it
without support
to wondering why my momma
didn't just abort
from watching the rich get richer
while I remain poor
to praying to God seemingly
unanswered, til my knees are sore
I have a right to be angry
don't you think I do
if you had to walk in my shoes
wouldn't you be angry too.
I Have The Right
Many waters can't quench love...neither can a flood...drown it
If you offered everything you owned...you'd be scorned and despised
To think that you could pay to buy it...when you find it
Then attempt to bind it's...wounds...at the sight of blood, many a beloved has swooned
For love is as strong as death...will offer it's last breath...without request
And at your birth, have no regrets...just a world left...with an orphaned child
Who'll never see his mothers smile...innocence's jealousy bound to run buck wild
In a hard core playground...where even crueler playmates abound
Working up a thirst...Lord knows, if you drink from this cup, your sure to get hurt
There's no woman or man walking this parched earth...that isn't dying of thirst
But love bears up under any and everything..empowers the weakling...the wild thing
Punch drunk on a inkling...just thinking...about getting a sip of love
A Sip of Love
